Bathroom Design For Beginners
Most bathrooms are not very spacious rooms. As long as they have the necessary items such as a bathtub/shower, toilet, and sink vanity, most people do not give it a second thought until the moment it gets extremely crowded. Suddenly you have a dirty clothesbasket, a linen cabinet, a trashcan, a rug, and too many bathroom products trying to fit in too tight a space. It can be extremely intimidating to think of using your bathroom when it is in such a messy state!
If you suffer from too small of a bathroom, you need to rethink your bathroom design. You can make your bathroom feel and look larger, but you just need to know how! Here are some important tips you should implement in order to achieve a more spacious bathroom no matter what the size.
1) Create the illusion of space with large floor tiles and a large mirror. Large tiles on the floor make the room seem bigger because they trick the eye. The same theory works for a large mirror. It reflects the whole room giving it the appearance of additional space. It is also nice to have a large mirror so that you do not have to squint in order to shave or apply make-up in the mornings!
2) Let in the light! A smaller bathroom only looks small and depressing if it is naturally dark, meaning that no real sunlight can filter into the room. If you can, add a skylight or open up space for a larger window. Not only will you save on electricity, natural light makes every room feel more open and comfortable.
3) If you need to have a bathtub installed, try to put in a corner bathtub. You might be amazed by how much space you save by installing a corner tub. Despite the different shape, you still feel as though you can have an extremely luxurious bubble bath!
4) Get creative with your bathroom vanity. Most people will install only a single sink vanity even though they have two people using the bathroom on a regular basis. It can make things extremely stressful in the mornings. Therefore, try for a dual level vanity or a corner double sink vanity. Make the most of your space but try not to make things more complicated in the mornings!
Good luck making your bathroom a more pleasant room!
